What kind of lotion/moisturizer can I use on my lip piercing?

I got a lip piercing four days ago, and just yesterday I began having a bit of a problem. I purchased a special kind of soap to clean my piercing. (I think it is called Satin soap.) Even though the soap is extra gentle with moisturizers, my skin is becoming dried out around the area of the piercing (perhaps from other products I use to care for my face, in addition to the fact that my skin becomes especially dry in the wintertime.)

Is there any kind of lotion/ointment/balm I can apply directly to the site of the piercing to prevent chapping, without fear of infection or complication? Thanks! What kind of lotion/moisturizer can I use on my lip piercing?
Really, do not take out your piercing.

If you are having dry skin on the outer portion of your lip, i recommend aloe. Break a piece of the aloe plant off (like at the tip) and carefull rub around your piercing. DO NOT use lotion, and especially do not use ';A%26amp;D Ointment or petroleum jellY'; for gods sake.

It's best to put nothing onto a newer piercing. Any liquids or lotions will trap bacteria and dirt next to the piercing stud and cause irritation over time. Best to keep it clean and try your best not to play with it. H2Ocean is very good for cleaning, though it does dry a bit.

Best luck -

if you've just got your piercing 4 days ago DO NOT take it out. (unless of course you want it to close up). ive had my lip pierced for 7 years now, with no infection or problems, and the best and only thing that has worked for me is to use listerine and a cotton swab to clean it. just swab around the ring to clean the outside, then rinse your mouth out with to clean the inside. if you swab a little on the hoop and move it in and out of the hole this will help clean the inside of the piercing as well.
A %26amp;D ointment, or vaseline petroleum jelly.

Remove the piercing for best results.
